These postcards were handed out at ship launching ceremonies. Because they were printed before the launch, they often show the ship already sailing.
They were usually made in booklet form, with the first page giving basic information about the ship and the second page serving as a postcard.
Bright, colorful illustrations are a distinctive feature of these postcards.
Most of the postcards in this museum’s collection depict ships built at the Nippon Kokan (NKK) Shimizu Shipyard.
